Rev. Jonathan Waits joined First Baptist Oakboro as Senior Pastor in July 2017. He, his wife Lisa, and sons: Noah, Josiah, and Micah came to Oakboro from Central Baptist Church in Church Road, Virginia, where they served for nine years. When he’s not in the office, Jonathan can be found building Legos with his boys, reading the news or a good book, building models, or hitting the town with Lisa. Rev. Nate Sisson has been the Student Minister of First Baptist Oakboro since August of 2019. He and his wife Marisa are originally from Mississippi but came to Oakboro after briefly living in Wake Forest, NC. There, Nate completed his Master of Divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife have two boys, Ben and Zach, who always keep things lively and fun. When not spending time with students, Nate loves to hang out with Marisa and the boys trying all sorts of new things, eating out at restaurants, exploring new places, playing and snuggling with the boys, and playing in a good pick-up game of football or basketball. Delinda Huneycutt has served as secretary since June of 1991. She is the polite voice that will usually greet your phone calls to the church office. She and her husband Donnie have twins Halee and Wesley. In 2019, she was blessed with 4 granddaughters, in July 2020 and March of 2022, she welcomed 2 grandsons, with another granddaughter born January 2024.
